Hi everyone here is chapter 5 of my book, in the last one I promised a extra long chapter so get ready to read for a while. Oh and by the way this chapter switches to Forest's perspective. Forest is Nyla's brother in case you have forgotten.
Chapter 5
Forest
Plink, plink, plink, plink I sighed and creaked open an eye cautiously hoping that I was actually with Nyla hearing the rain outside on a Saturday but instead it was the constant dripping of water over in the corner of my cell. Ah, the life of living in a cell. Not that I'm complaining three square meals a day, a nice cot, oh and I even have my own toilet. How exciting! But there were the downsides. No lighting so I was constantly in darkness, the food sucked, I really needed a shower, um and oh yeah I was a prisoner. I stretched my sore muscles in the darkness and worked out any kinks until I was ready to try and make my way out of my cot and over to my little toilet.
The floor was wet and stained with mud and dirt. I dare not touch the walls because something oozed from them that had a green glow, I doubted it was water. So I walked blindly in the darkness slipping on the dark ground trying to make it over to the toilet. If anyone had been in the cell with me they probably would have laughed. With my swaying and slipping I probably looked like a drunk man walking down the streets.
After relieving myself I went back over to my cot and waited for my next meal to be delivered. The food was disgusting but after living in here for a week you kind of get used to it. Sure enough after about what I guessed was twenty minutes I heard the scraping of large feet against the floors in the hallway outside my windowless and door less cell.
"Hey kid here's your food." I rough voice said from outside my walls. A small opening was created and a tray of food slid through it.
"Why thank you how kind." I said my voice dripping with sarcasm as I walked over and picked up the food trying to avoid the light because my eyes had become accustomed to the darkness.
"Don't get all like that kid. I don't like it down here and neither do you so just deal with it." my guard said with annoyance.
I didn't recognize the voice although there was something familiar about it, yet I couldn't place it.
"I don't recognize your voice, are you new?" I asked while munching on stale bread. I decided to ignore the mushy slop they had put in a bowl for me.
"Yes I am brand new. I had been wandering out in the barren lands for a while but then Hades found me and restored my memory and thought it would be a good idea for me to come and guard you.
"Uh huh," I said barely paying attention to him. His voice was so familiar my mind was aching trying to remember the person it belonged to.
"Do you know how long you have been dead?" I asked, yea I know kind of personnel but hey I was the one in a cell.
"Oh about three years or so maybe longer kind of hard to tell."
"What's your name."
"O.k. kid now your getting personnel, I'm not even supposed to be talking to you."
"Well ya are."
"Well I won't anymore."
"Oh come on, I am going to start guessing names until you tell me."
"You'll never guess it."
"Oh yea," I said and then started blabbing off names that came to my head when I thought of the word noodles.
"Squishy, Sloppy, Smelly..."
"Kid those names sound like something from Snow White and the Seven Dwarf's."
"Well then tell me or else its back to Snow White names."
"You really wanna know."
"Yes...As long as it's not like Machine Gun Kelly or Al Capone then I'm good." I said. Those dudes had been dead before I was alive but for all I knew this guy was some deranged maniac.
"Pete Dalbert."
"Pete!" I yelled. Then I placed the name. He was my Grandpa's old fishing buddy who had died 4 years ago after a heart attack.
"Yup that's my name now settle down in there before someone hears you."
"Pete don't you remember me?"
"I don't remember anyone who I don't know the names of kid."
"It's me Forest, your best friend Niell Sparrow is my grandfather."
"Forest? O.k. stop messing with me. That kid Forest is only eight years old and nearly drowned the last time I took him and his grandpa fishing...while I was still alive that is."
"Yea I remember nearly drowning, I remember we were out in the shallows of the lake and you yelled at me about how I shouldn't stand up while the boat was going but I didn't listen and was thrown of the side of the boat and grandpa had to dive in after me. He got to me right before I was nearly under the water." I paused for a moment. "And then you and grandpa flipped a coin on who was going to tell my mom and grandpa got it. Then later that night when he told my mom she threw a huge fit. She yelled at my grandpa about me being safe and how they should have taken me to a hospital as soon as we got back into city limits. Then Grandpa burst out laughing and so did we."
"Wow it really is you isn't it."
"Yup."
"Why are you in this place. Your only eight you should still be in second grade."
"A lot of time has passed since you died," Forest paused. "I'm thirteen years old and you have been dead for five years."
"Wow, five years....How's you're dad doing. Last time I was there he was talking about going to join the war." He asked. Oh why did he have to go and ask that? Tears filled my eyes.
"He died a year ago..." I said trying to hold back the tears.
"Oh Forest, I am so sorry." He paused. "You're father was a great man, If he died in battle then he would've gone to the Isle of the Blessed. That's where all of the hero's go if they die for a worthy cause."
"It's fine Pete, Nyla took his death the hardest. She wouldn't come out of her room for weeks and my mom had to practically force her to eat. That is when my mom even made dinner. Most nights I would just make Nyla a peanut butter sandwich and bring it to her. After mom recovered from the loss she took Nyla to counseling and she slowly started to come back to reality. My mom bought her a dog named Sydney which helped a lot." I tried to stop the tears but they just kept rolling down my face. In the halls you could hear the echo of them hitting the rough cement walls.
"You shouldn't be here. What are you doing in the land of the dead?" Pete asked.
"Our city got bombed by the terrorists. I thought we were dead but then we woke up here still alive and breathing."
"You mean you didn't die?"
"Nope, we met a boy named Kovull and he helped us survive out in the savage lands." I paused gathering my thoughts. "Nyla has a rare ability called beast charming it allows her to control any animal or beast that lives down here in the underworld. She saved my life by accidentally controlling Cerberus the first day we woke up. We stayed on the run, trying to keep away from Hades guards and spirits that were hunting us. We don't know why we didn't die that night but we know that mom did or at least that's what we think. We are officially orphans and if we ever do escape from this place we will have no where to go." I let loose a big hiccup of a sob.
"Forest, don't cry kid. You are a strong and intelligent boy. Even when you were eight I could tell that you were destined for great things. Don't let anything get you down. Even when you're being held in a cell." He paused. "How is Marie" Pete asked me.
"She's fine, been living in the same house and still goes up to you're cabin every memorial day." I said. "Nyla is the one you would want to ask, she spends so much time with Marie sometimes I wonder if they are a member of a secret club or something." I paused. "That is until we were sent here."
"Well it's good to know at least that much. Now you need to get some rest and pretend you don't even know me because my shift is almost over. It is the middle of the night."
"Wow, you guys feed me at really weird times."
"They are trying to keep you confused about how long you've been here."
"Why?"
"I don't know, like I said I am brand new to this kind of stuff." He paused. "Goodnight Forest,"
********************************
I woke up and peeled open one eye then the other. A chill hung over in the air like morning mist. Something seemed wrong and everything was quite. Time itself seemed to be standing still. Suspense hung in the air like a cloud. I sat up and moved my stiff legs off of my cot. I shivered at the cold in the air. I couldn't tell if it was night time or the noon. Being stuck in a cell and all. I started to review what had happened before I fell asleep. I finally found someone who I knew besides Nyla and Kovull. I just hoped that Hades didn't know that Pete was a old friend. I didn't want him getting hurt. Hades can still hurt spirits even though they are dead. Kind of like a whole zombie thing. You can still kill zombie's even though they are already dead. At least that's how it was in the movies.
I heard a dragging noise coming from outside my cell. I clung to the small cotton blanket they had given me like a life preserver. I heard that noise every day the first time I woke up. I didn't know what it was but I knew that it wasn't friendly. It stopped in front of my cell and I could hear it trying to scratch it's way in.
"Oi, get a move on you mangy mutt!" I heard one of the guards yell at the beast. I heard it being dragged away from my cell and deep down into the corridor. I let out of big sigh. I hadn't realized I was holding my breath. Time started drifting by slowly like a snail. Every hour or so the beast would come back and scratch at my cell only to be pulled away again. When I felt tired I slept, when I felt hungry I would wait for the next meal, and when I felt bored I would just sit there and look at the wall. I know that would only increase the boredom but what am I supposed to do while sitting around in a cell all day.
I kind of expected the guards to make me work at a court yard breaking down bricks or something like they did in the old movies but unfortunately they just let me sit in my cell. Anything would have been better than this. Maybe even a day at my grandma's. Oh man, could that lady talk. She would talk for hours and hours on end. From the first subject to the next. My mom used to tell me that I got my talkative spirit from her but I think that is a lie. I don't sit in a rocking chair all day talking about knitting or sewing.
The boredom was starting to get on my nerves, if it hadn't already. I started pacing and even a couple times found a stick and pocked the side of my cell and play around with the goo that oozed off the walls. As my pacing increased so did the visits from the animal. No guards were assigned to watching me. I tried talking to the guard that brought by the animal every so often but all that resulted to were some grunts and threats to kill me if I didn't stop talking.
I started pacing so often that I thought that I was going to wear a hole in the floor. I got so bored that I actually abandoned the stick and ran my hands along the walls. The ooz rubbed off the walls and started to drip down my arm. I jumped back shacking the ooz off of my arms as I walked backwards I tripped over a rough edge of the stone on the floor and landed with a thud. The ooz was off my arm but it had left a glowing green on my arm. It acted like a light source. I studied the corner that I had tripped over. It seemed to be a loose stone. I crawled over to it and lifted and pulled the stone. It raised ever so slightly but then dropped back down. I tried again and again until I had scooted over the stone about a inch. I peered down the hole I had created. It led into some sort of corridor. With knew determination I pushed the stone all the way off of the hole. There was about a 5 ft. of space from where I stood from the floor. I sat down with  my legs hanging over the edge and pushed myself down into the cavern.
Dust filled the air when I landed with a thud on the ground. I coughed and then stood up dusting off my shirt. There was really no need to because in the underworld you are given clothing that are made of cotton and are pure white. Even if you get dirty the clothes will stay perfectly clean. They are itchy and uncomfortable so I preferred to wear my own jeans and t-shirt but when the spirits captured me they put me in the cotton clothing.
I squinted and looked into the darkness. I had landed right in the middle of a hallway and on both ends it seemed to go on forever in the darkness. I held up my arm as a light source and saw that there were torches along the walls although not lit. I grabbed one and scraped it along the floor sparks flew. I ripped a strip of my shirt and wrapped it around the top of the torch. Then I scraped it again and the sparks flew and set the shirt on fire on top of the torch. Satisfied I looked started down the corridor on my left.
As I walked the silence started to get to me so I started to hum take me out to the ball game. Not the best song ever I know but in a creepy corridor what else do you do? I came to a three way split in the hallway. Each one led to a new hallway. I decided to go down the corridor on the far right. I was beginning to doubt my whole left is right thing.
This corridor went on for a while then came to a two way split. I kept going down the right one. I soon realized my mistake. The walls seemed to be stained with some sort of dark brown stuff and as I kept walking hints of bones started. Soon as I kept walking the bones were everywhere, pushed up against the walls. They seemed to be human bones and bones of animals I didn't recognize. They looked like giant snake bones. I realized to late that the brown stuff on the walls had been stains of blood. Something was down in here that wanted to eat me.
I turned around and started to go back the way I came but after a while ran into a dead end instead of the two way split. The maze was corridors were changing themselves.
Oh picklefifers. I thought. This is not good.
I turned around and for the first time noticed the stench that was coming down this corridor. It smelled like rotten eggs and melted rubber. Very gross. I picked up one of the snake like heads and tore a tooth from the mouth and started back down the corridor with an improvised dagger. As I kept going down the bones began to grow scarce and after a while were gone and ahead of me I could see a large arch that led to some sort of large chamber. I walked through it, and what I saw scared me half to death.
If I had thought that the bones were gone man, was I wrong. The chamber was filled with heaping piles of bones and dented armor of what looked like gladiators from the Roman and Greek time periods. But what really scared me was the monster that was sitting on the biggest pile of bones in the middle of the huge cavern. It was some sort of creature. It had the body of a man but huge, like a body builder on steroids and a thick brown fur covered its body, the head was the head of a bull with horns and everything, it was wearing armor across its chest and a chain mail skirt, and it was holding a huge club with very lethal looking spikes at the top. I had always been a fan of Greek mythology and I knew exactly what this creature was.
It was the minotaur and I had just walked right into its prison. Yup that's right I just walked right into the never ending, always changing labyrinth. The Minotaur made an inhuman howl when it saw me, its next meal. Oh double picklefifers. I thought. This was going to be a problem.
And that is the next chapter in my book. I hope you liked it and again please excuse any grammer errors. I will be trying to post once a week from now on.

Monday, April 8, 2013

Hello people of the world. I am about to give you a brand new chapter for my book and I hope you like it. But I noticed that there were some misunderstanding in the book about what Nyla had done. What had happened was her powers transferred her mind into Cerberus's body so now she is Cerberus in a way. It is kind of confusing, I know, but now I will continue the story.
Chapter 4
Nyla
Scylla was not expecting my attack and so when I lunged at her she still was able to stumble out of the way but tripped over that stupid fish tail of hers. I looked around frantically while she tried to regain her balance. Where is it? Where is it? That's when I spotted it. My body was lying limp on the ground, I grimaced when I saw what shape my body was in. I had scrapes and bruises all over me and you could see a blood stain on the side of my shirt from when I had gotten stabbed the the manticore. One of my heads was focused on Scylla so that I could know when she was attacking. I noticed her get up and ready her stance as if to pounce. I returned the pose and growled, it sounded like thunder rolling across the sky. My nostrils burned because of the putrid smell Scylla was producing and I could feel the strength of my body. It felt like I could lift a mountain and toss it with how much strength I had. But still I wasn't used to this body so I felt clumsy on my feet (technically paws) and scared of my new and enhanced senses.
Scylla and I stayed in that position waiting for someone to make the first move of attack. I don't know how much time was spent there but suddenly out of no where Scylla moved. Not like slightly moved but  moved like lighting. Her speed was so fast that I couldn't catch her when she raced past me and straight for my body. (Well my human body not Cerberus's body that was mine at the moment ) In panic and fury I reached one of my heads at her and snapped at her tail. Scylla howled in pain but I wasn't done. I sank my teeth into her tail and whipped her back and forth like a dog and a chew toy. Then I flung her away from me.
I whipped around and watched Scylla land on the hard ground. She tried to get up but her tail which had supported her was now broken and bleeding. I tried not to picture what her tail looked like now that I had nearly rip it off of her. I walked over to where she was sitting. There was a big pool of blood surrounding her but instead of red it was like gold. Three of the six wolf heads around her waist had been bent so much that they were no longer alive. She was in such a bad shape that I couldn't help but feel sorry for her but then I remembered Kovull.
"Where is he?" I said, my three different heads in unison.
"Ha, you mean the boy? Which one? I believe there are two you care for." She said venom in her voice. She laughed again when she saw the fear run across my faces.
"You have defeated me once so I can tell you where one of your beloved friends are."
"You mean you can come back?"
"Yes of course, this is the underworld, no one really dies here they are just forgotten. And besides I am a monster, monsters come back to life if the fates deem it so." she paused trying to readjust her position without hurting herself. "Now which one do you choose? Your friend or your brother?"
"What, Forest is still alive?"
"Of course like I just said no one really dies in the underworld. And Hades would never kill your brother, he is a bartering chip. If he needs you to help him he will use your brother as a trade." she inhaled sharply and rolled over on her back coughing. When she regained her composer she continued. "Now answer the question, which one do you choose?" I was torn. Kovull was my best friend and if what Scylla said was true then Forest wasn't dead, only in Hades dungeon. I couldn't decide,
"I can't answer that question, but can I ask you for a gift?" I asked. Scylla seemed to be taken back by this.
"Yes you can ask for whatever your heart desires," She replied slowly thinking it through.
"I want a map of Hades palace and dungeons," I said with a smug look on my three faces. Scylla looked at me curiously and then there was a pop of electricity and then she was holding a golden map. She placed the map down on the ground and then faded away into thin air. I let out a sigh of relief and my vision started to change. I closed my eyes waiting for the sense to be over and when I opened them again I was looking through color and a new wave of pain became aware to my mind. I felt naked without Cerberus's senses. My hearing was at least ten times worse as it had been and my sight was no longer crisp and triple viewed, but what I missed most was the strength.
I peeled my face off of the rough ground and sat up trying to readjust to my weak strength. My legs felt brittle and wobbly as I got up and slowly started walking over to where Cerberus now was lying unconscious. I nearly tripped about five times but finally made it over to him.
"Cerberus, are you all right?" I asked using my thoughts. one of Cerberus's heads eyes slowly opened. He whimpered and all of the other heads woke up slowly.
"Yes, we are fine."
"How did you do that?"
"I don't know, maybe it is a new development of my powers?"
"It was amazing, thank you for saving our life."
"You're welcome."
"We are going to rest now, wake us up if you need anything."
As soon as they said that each head  closed their eyes one by one. I chuckled softly and walked behind Cerberus to where the golden map laid. I bent down and picked it up. The paper was crisp and old I scrolled it open and looked at the ink drawing. It was magnificently drawn, almost down to every detail. It showed different rooms thousands of entrances and secret passages. There were even instructions written to the side. I noticed that it cut off down at the side where there should be more.
"Ugh, that stupid monster, she cheated me off, I wish that this map showed more of the dungeon." I said frustrated. As soon as I said that the drawing's surface rippled and slowly disappeared, then new ink strokes started drawing on the paper and it showed the east wing of the dungeon the exact one that had been cut off. I gasped in complete shock and dropped the map.
Slowly I bent over and picked it back up.
"Show me any secret entrances into the dungeons."
The ink rippled and disappeared and then redrew all of the different entrances into the dungeons.
"Oh my gosh this is so cool! It's like Google maps but on a scroll of paper." I practically yelled. One of Cerberus's heads snapped off the ground wide awake.
"What is it, is anything happening?" He said concerned.
"Oops, I said that pretty loud, um it was nothing go back to sleep." I whispered. Cerberus grumbled something about noisy mortals and went back into a deep slumber. I giggled at his remark started studying and memorizing all I could about the dungeon lay out and any other useful parts of the bone palace. Soon though my excitement dwindled and was replaced with sleep. I was exhausted from the days battle with Scylla and wanted nothing more than sleep. It was dangerous to sleep at night in the underworld without any protection. Guilt washed through me as I looked at Cerberus's body. He was taking shallow and choppy breathes and was whimpering in his sleep. I couldn't wake him up and ask him to take watch.
I decided that I would just have to stay awake until I couldn't keep my eyes open and then would ask Cerberus to take guard. My muscles ached as I wandered around and scrounged up any twigs I could find. When I finally had a good enough pile I made a small fire using kindling from my cotton shirt and some dry leaves. The dim and small fire had turned into a bonfire by the time I had finished adding all the wood I could find. Slowly in the light of the embers I took a stone and started chiseling away at it with another stone. All of my supplies had been taken away by the spirits when I was captured. So with the little resources I had I started making a knew bow and some arrows. They weren't the best in the world but they could work for hunting.
After making about five arrows, each one took about a hour to make, my eyelids started to droop and my mind to wander. Without knowing it my wandering mind turned into dreams and I was fast asleep. The last thing I remember though before giving into exhaustion was a voice calling my name and a torch light headed towards me in the distance.
So that is the end of chapter four. I hope you all liked it and please leave any suggestions and/ or comments on this chapter. I know it was one of my shorter chapters so I will make the next one extra long. See you on chapter five.

Hey everybody I am so, so, sorry  about how long it has been since I posted. I hope this next chapter will make up for the wait. Anyways back to the story, in this chapter I have switched from the narrator's perspective to the character's perspective. In this chapter it is Nyla's perspective.
Chapter 3
After that  I grabbed Kovull and we ran for our lives. It was actually very exciting when I think about it. The wind, even though it smelled like rotten eggs, was blowing in my face. Then is where it got bad, as soon as Kovull and I ran out of the bone palace every single skeleton guard, wraith, and spirit started chasing us.
"Whoa, What did you just do?" Kovull yelled at me as we were running.

"Just saved your life deal with it." I shouted back.

"Why are you crying?" Kovull asked more quiet.

I hadn't realized but as soon as we had started running big streams of hot tears were running down my face.

"Why do you think! I just lost my brother!" I stopped dead in my tracks and faced Kovull.

"The whole reason I came here was to save him! I protected him my whole life and now he's gone. When we were transported to the underworld I promised that I would protect him or die."

Kovull just stared at me with surprise then shook his head with a mysterious grin on his face. I didn't realize that we were still holding hands, but as soon as I saw that smile I ripped my grip from his and started running again. My strong legs and adrenaline pushed so much space between Kovull and I that I could barely hear him now. Run just run away, run away and don't think. That was what I was thinking. No thinking about Kovull, or Forest just keep running. And so I did, I ran and ran and ran. I barely looked at where I was going or heard what Kovull was yelling at me. A dark cloud of loss covered my face. It was like being under water and someone was trying to talk to me.
I felt my body run into something big and furry, the animals paw lifted me up onto its back. I was still thinking of running and that's what the animal did it ran and ran. Faster than I ever could, and stronger than I ever could be. I felt safe with the animal, the untamed animal. So I gripped its fur and fell asleep.

I woke up on the ground with a paw wrapped around me like a blanket. I heard a voice in my head.

"Good your awake."

"What, Where, Who?" I stammered. I couldn't move the paw on me was like a boulder.

"Be quite, everything is good, everything is safe."
The memories of what had happened raced through my mind and all of the emotions I felt. Tears started rolling down my face and the loss gripped me again. No I had to stay awake.

"Will you please lift your paw off of me?"

"Of course."

The creature's paw lifted up and I rolled out from underneath it. When I saw the creature to be completely honest I screamed. I was staring face to face with Cerberus, well actually face to three faces.

"Oh please don't be such a baby." somebody said. From behind Cerberus Kovull walked into view.

"You! Go away, leave me alone!" I turned around and started walking away.

"Wait, Nyla!"

"No I don't want to hear it you can just go back to where ever you came from!"  I shouted back. Kovull started walking after me and so did Cerberus. As soon as Cerberus caught up with me I climbed onto his back.

"Will you take me to the river Styx?"

"Of course." Cerberus started to run.

"Cerberus, STOP." Kovull yelled.
Cerberus stopped dead in his tracks. His eyes turned from gold to dead black. He turned around and faced Kovull. Horror spread through me.

"Kovull, what did you do to him?" I said while struggling to get off of Cerberus.

"You didn't think that I have powers too?"

"You? But how? "

"I have lived in the underworld for over 300 years. You didn't think I would acquire some sort of power."
Kovull was pointing at Cerberus he quickly jerked his hand to point at me. Cerberus's gaze fallowed and when we made eye contact he growled. Slowly I started backing away. That's when I noticed Kovull's eye's. The baby blue was gone and now replaced with dark deep red.

"Kovull, what did Hades do to you?"

"Hades? He didn't do anything to me. He helped me master my power."

"You aren't the Kovull that I saved from Hades castle before I blacked out."

"You are quick to catch on..."

"Who are what are you?"

"Its wonderful you would ask us."

"Us?"
Kovull's body started to morph and change. His lower torso morphed and stretched, his legs disappeared and stretched into wolf heads. Six wolf heads stretched out of his waist with fur as black as night. Kovull's grew fangs and his hair grew to become long jet black hair. As quite some shock to me his features became more feminine actually a lot more feminine.  His or her skin (I didn't know which) became pale blue. Like sea green. Her hair (I am just going to call it a her) writhed like thousands of little snacks in one big tangle upon her head. The red in her eyes started to glow and they swirled like a whirlpool in a storm.

"What are you?" I asked barely chocking the words out."

"We are Scylla." All of the heads answered, the women's head and the six wolf's heads. "We are the guarder of our rocks that lay right across from the rocks that belong to the whirlpool daemon Kharybdis. We would drown six sailors from each boat that came near me or my rocks."

"Why don't you still?" I asked slowly and cautiously moving back from Scylla. "Shouldn't you be protecting your rocks from sailors?"

"It is all your fault! All human kinds fault! They stopped believing in the Greek legends as soon as the roman civilization failed. Our ways were forgotten and nobody worshiped us or feared us. My powers started to fade. Everybody thought that when six sailors went missing from my rocks that it was all cause of a storm or sharks." She wailed, well they wailed. "I was cursed in a whole new way  I was forgotten and poor, poor Kharybdis went insane. He would try and kill me instead of the ships that came near him."

Here is something you need to know about me. When something shocking happens it usually takes me a while to process it and I probably shouldn't have said this but...

"Wait, wait, wait you are a girl?" I said in astonishment. Scylla chortled and it sounded like a dying duck in my opinion.

"You, poor ,poor little mortal it will be so easy to kill you but unfortunately Hades wants you alive." She said like she pitied me.
"I would prefer you to kill me instead."
"No I'm sorry that's not how it works." And with that Scylla lunged at me. I immediately reached for my bow but it wasn't there.
"Pickle Fifers!" I shouted and started running.
"Cerberus! Help me!"
"I can't move!" Cerberus wailed in my mined.
"Cerberus," I gathered up all my strength. "I command you to attack Scylla!"
Cerberus turned around and looked at me. The pain in his eyes was unmistakable but slowly his gold eyes started to come back instead of jet black. When his eyes were completely back to their normal color he lunged at Scylla. I hadn't noticed something about Scylla. She had one big floppy fish tale instead of legs, that looked heavy and useless. But when she fought her tail would wind up and push her forward with such force that I could barely see her when she moved. Cerberus started snapping at her and blocking her from me with his big body. Scylla's moves were fast and agile and I knew within an amount of time Cerberus would lose. Scylla lunged at Cerberus deciding to attack him and kill him first. She would pivot and lunge then she would attack. Although she didn't count on Cerberus's three heads watching every blind spot. Scylla whipped up her tail and lashed it around Cerberus's front paw. She then flung her tale over her head therefore flinging Cerberus over her head. He landed right behind her and wined. Scylla's wolf heads snapped at Cerberus, she bend over him hissing her fangs bared.
"NO!"
I screamed and ran right at Scylla. My vision started to change. instead of seeing in color everything was black and white. My legs gave out and I stumbled into the gravel. When I opened my eyes again I was seeing through three different sets of eyes. It was disorienting but somehow it worked. I could hear twice as well and I could smell everything. I could feel how powerful I was, my strong legs and jaws. I had three pairs of wicked sharp teeth. That's when I realized it I was inside the mind of Cerberus. Scylla was looking over me with her fangs ready to bight me but she had stopped. My instincts as a predator told me that she was confused because my scent had changed. Also my emotions had changed. I got up and took this chance to fight I backed away and started to charge and Scylla.

Mwahahahahaha I just made the most awesome cliff hanger. Please leave a comment on this chapter and don't worry the next chapter will be coming out shortly. I hope you enjoyed and also I hoped this made up for the wait.

This post is the second chapter in my book the Curse of Tarterus. I hope you enjoy it. This chapter is wild and full of action. Warning this chapter has a bit of blood in it so to those who get light headed at the mention of blood I would advice you not to read the 10 paragraph.

Chapter 2

Nyla spent three whole days camping and hiking through the underworld. When she finally did reach the border that separated Hades kingdom from the savage lands she was greeted by the two spirits who had taken her brother and friend.

"Well, well, well, look who we have here." said the spirit with the eye patch.
"Filthy creature I'm only here for by brother and friend." Nyla spat with hatred in her voice.
"Show some respect girl, you are in Hades domain and we can do whatever we want with you." the 2nd spirit said with an evil gleam in his eyes. And with that the spirits pulled out spears and started pushing her along towards the bone palace.
Along the way Nyla noticed Cerberus, the three headed watch and guard dog, one of the heads turned her way and looked at her curiously. The other two heads swung around to look at Nyla as well. One head growled but did not sound like he would harm Nyla. The head in the middle let out a whimper and then barked. One of the guards noticed and jabbed Cerberus with his spear. Surprised Cerberus looked back at the spirits lined up in front of him waiting to get a counsel with Hades.

"She shouldn't have come."
"Master isn't going to be pleased."
"Why what did she do?"
"Well for starters she controlled us only because we wanted a small bite out of that little boy."
"She had a reason you know."
"What?"
"That boy was her brother."
"Well it still wasn't very nice."
"WE should have chewed HER up instead."
"NO. I like her, she has a kind heart I saw it."
Confused Nyla looked around wondering where she had heard the voices from. Then she made eye contact with Cerberus. One head looked at her with a sincere look another looked at her with curiosity and the other looked at her with a mad look. Nyla realized she had heard what Cerberus was thinking. Nyla gasped and wondered if with being a beast charmer she could hear the thoughts of animals that were smart enough to think.
The spirit with the eye patch noticed that Nyla had stopped walking. "Get a move on Hades doesn't have all the time in the world you know." He pocked her with his spear. Nyla looked at the spirit and started walking. As they kept walking Nyla noticed a spirit that looked familiar.
"MOM!" Nyla screamed. There was no mistaking it the curly brown hair, black eyes, a kind smile, and her other features made her look just like Nyla. Startled Nyla's mom looked at her she looked confused and upset for a moment her mom seemed to recognise who Nyla was but then she looked confused again and started walking in line again with the other spirits.
"Mom no its me Nyla! Your daughter." Nyla got free of the grip one of the spirits had on her and ran right at her mom to give her a hug but when she reached her Nyla passed right through her. Shocked Nyla tried again but her hands passed through her mom. Realising that her mom was a spirit Nyla crumpled to the ground and started to cry violent sobs once she started them she couldn't stop. Her mom looked down at her like she wanted to help but something was stopping her. As fast as Nyla had started crying she stopped and looked up at the sky dazed and then she passed out.
**************
Nyla groggily woke up on a cold marble floor. She peeled her face of the floor and took a look at where she was. What she saw she did not like. There was a big black throne on a raised part of the room it looked beautiful but deadly at the same time. The back was long and tall with blood read ruby's cut in the shape of sculls outlining it. The arm rests were each tipped with Hades royal crest, a star with a scull in the middle. Another throne was to the right of it well throne wasn't exactly how to put it. It was more of a giant daisy carved out of rose quarts. But the stigma* was a cushion embroidered to look like the center of a flower.
Nyla felt a sharp pain in her left side. She looked down and saw a giant spike pocking out of her side. Nyla gently placed her hand on it she grimaced and prepared to pull it out. O.k. on three. One, two, three... Nyla quickly yanked the spike out. She heard the tearing of flesh when she looked at the spike she held in her hand the tip was stained with blood. Slowly Nyla took a cautious look at where the spike had been in planted in her side. There was a big slash mark that had warm blood oozing out of it. Quickly Nyla reached for her hunting satchel that had a bandage in it but it wasn't there. Out of options Nyla clutching her side limped over to a curtain and ripped of a long strip of the red satin. While tying the satin around her waist and over the wound the giant black wooden doors opened.
In stormed Hades with his wife,Persephone, yelling at him. Hades had on a long black chiton with a blood red sash covering his left shoulder. His hair was a mess of unkempt black hair, his eyes were also black but terrifying when you looked into them it looked like you were looking into the face of death.(and in a way you were) Nyla noticed tucked underneath hades arm was a black battle helmet. The kind that had a feather plume coming out of the top in a line. But Persephone looked beautiful. She had long wavy light blond hair with a crown on top that looked like a daisy chain. Her chiton was lime green with a pink sash/cape over it. Her eyes were the color of meadows and pastures. And when she walked into the room the smell of dew on roses filled the air. They seemed to be auguring about something.
"Husband this is not right why must everything be about you?" said Persephone

"Dear listen for a moment. The oracle told me that this girl had something to do with my fate and I must do everything in my power to keep my fate in the right direction." replied Hades

"EXCUSE ME. But what do I have to do with your fate." Shouted Nyla over the yelling couple.
Both of them looked startled like they had just noticed that Nyla was in the room. Hades looked at her with a very rude scowl. Suddenly Nyla winced and fell to the ground. Tears stung Nyla's eyes. A knew wave of pain had traveled through Nyla's body from her wound. Hades chuckled.

"Painful isn't it. The poison of my manticore is very deadly but takes a long time to travel through your body."
Nyla was still holding the spike in her hands. Slowly Nyla stood up and walked forward. Through gritted teeth Nyla asked again.
"What do I have to do with your fate lord Hades."
"That is not for you to know at the moment."
"It has something to do with how you rescued me and my brother from becoming spirits."
"Yes but no more talking you came so now I will present you with your brother and friend."
The big doors opened again and in walked the two spirits who had taken Nyla there were pulling  Forest and Kovull behind them. Nyla ran up and hugged Kovull. They quickly pulled away both were blushing. Nyla reached over to hug Forest but her hands went right through him. He was a spirit. Anger, surprise, fear, and other emotions blew up in Nyla. Streams of tears stung her eys she stared at Hades. His eye's flashed with delight like hey had just played a fun practical joke. Nyla wound up her arm and flung the manticore spike at Hades. It struck him right in his neck. He looked around dazed and confused then he lost consciousness.
"How is that for changing your fate?" asked Nyla.

Duh,Duh,Duh. please check back soon sorry about the wait I had to go to girls camp and boy was that fun, but no electronics. :( so I couldn't write but I hope that this made up for the wait.

Hey everybody your going to have to wait for the next chapter of the Curse of Tarterus. Instead I'm going to share with you a chapter from my book Dragon Born. O.k. here it is.

chapter 3
Jack, Tim, and Phoeboe had been traveling in the enchanted forest for over a week. Phoeboe had told the boys it was the fastest way to get to the black dragons keep but the hardest and most dangerous. Did they listen nope. Instead they had marched right into the forest without hesitation. Now Phoeboe was standing infront of a earth giant and her friends were knocked out behind it. "How do I get myself into these situations?" Phoeboe muttered as she dodged a swing from the giants club. Phoeboe had been playing dodge the giant for the past 20 minutes. And the truth was the giant (and Phoeboe) was starting to get frustaited and annoyed.
But then the giant lost interest in their little game and kicked Phoeboe 50 meters and right into a tree. Phoeboe slumped to the ground. Everything was spinning and red spots dotted her vision. The giant took his chance and started charging right at Phoeboe. Get up! A voice erged Phoeboe. Phoeboe shakily stood up and saw the giant coming at her. Without thinking Phoeboe lifted her hands and sharply twisted her wrists. A huge gust of wind erupted making the trees shake and dead leaves twirl around Phoeboe. The wind got lowder and faster until if you shouted you couldn't even hear your own voice. Just then 2 mini tornadoes started to the right and left of Phoeboe. Phoeboe clenched her fists and thrust out her arms and the twisters flew at the giant.
The giant swung its club at the tornadoes but could'nt stop then. The tornadoes became one very big tornadoe and sucked the giant in. Phoeboe lauphed as she watched the giant swirl around and around. But then the giant lost its grip on his club and it flew out of the twister and hit Phoeboe right in the forhead with amazing strength. That's when Phoeboe lost concousness.

(This is a chapter from my book the Curse of Tarterus the sequal to my first book the Beast Charmer)
Chapter 1
Nyla hurried across the frozen ground. Frost tickled the pebbles and mud of the dark winter wasteland known as the undrworld. Where monsters roamed free and spirits of the dead were put to punishment by none other than Hades himself. Nyla and her brother had  been saved by Hades and teleportated to the underworld before they died in a bombing. Nyla and Forest met a boy named Kavull who was banished from the mortal world because he found out about the underworld and the afterlife. He had escaped Hades evil graspe and had been living in a makeshift home ever since. He took in Nyla and Forest where they healed Forest from his wound. Before Kavull had saved Nyla from the three headed monster Cerberus. But unfortunatly Forest had been hurt.
Today Nyla was out hunting for food. She was usually the only one who hunted because of her ability to control monsters and animals. Her gift was called "Beast Charming" Nyla prefered not to hunt but they had to live. She felt like a deceiver because she would control the animal and make it walk into a open space then she would shoot it with one of her arrows.
Nyla was on the track of a golden stag when she saw a group of souls roaming across the feilds. Nyla hurried and ducked down begind a tall bush and spied on them. Though the spirits did not move they're mouths a raspy voice filled the air.
" Where is she?" one spirit said with a eye patch
 "Hades said she'd be here."
 "How do you know."
"Because he told me that he would send a golden stag for her to follow."
"Oh pickle fifers." she said under her breath. She should've known this would be a trap. She had followed the stag because it was a creature of beuty and there were no creatures like that in the underworld. In fact she had never intented to kill it instead she was just going to follow it and try and lead back to where they were camping at the moment.
"I'm getting bored."
"She'll turn up I know she will."
"What if the stag already passed here? What if she's already killed it and started to return to the camp."
"Your right we should go and find the camp and take her friends as prisoners."
Nyla fought the erge to pull out a arrow and make a head shot at the 2nd spirit. "No don't do it. You can't harm them but they can harm you." Nyla had to remind herself.
The souls started to move across the plane towards the direction of a little speck in the distance that was a glowing red light. A camp fire. Nyla knew that the spirits were headed for the camp site. As soon as the spirits were out of site Nyla sprinted towards the camp.
When Nyla reached the camp she was determined that she had made it here before the spirits she ran inside the tent. It was pitch black inside but then suddenly a candle flickered on and she saw a note stuck to the ground by a dagger. Nyla picked it up and studied it.

                                                        Nyla,
We have your brother and friend. If you want us to spare them come to the bone palace and meet me in the throne room.
-Hades
Nyla gasped, dropped the paper and ran out of the tent.
